Peranakan cuisine has always been popular in Singapore and what with the screening of the Little Nonya, there is even more publicity. Eating out is becoming expensive these days and Chef Devagi Sanmugam has put together some of the favourites of Nonya cooking.

  • Ikan Garam Assam....spicy sambal topped fried fish
  • Ayam Lemak....rich chicken curry with lotsa herbs and spices
  • Sambal Bendi....learn the basic sambal and cook many other vegetables with it
  • Pengat...popular Peranakan dessert of sago, sweet potatoes, yam and bananas
