Peranakan cuisine has always been popular in Singapore and what with the screening of the Little Nonya, there is even more publicity. Eating out is becoming expensive these days and Chef Devagi Sanmugam has put together some of the favourites of Nonya cooking.

  • Udang Nanas Assam Pedas....it’s spicy hot, sweet & sour and light and drinkable gravy!
  • Otak Otak...grilled fish mousse with aromatic spices and herbs and wrapped in banana leaves
  • Kangkong Masak Lemak...a fibre rich gravy that is worth slurping and learning!!
  • Sambal Jantong Pisang...it’s the Nonya grandma’s recipe – very traditional banana blossom salad
