Indian Men's Gourmet Club

The Indian Men’s Gourmet Club was started in July 2003. Up till now there are as many as 64 people who have registered but only about 14 members are very active. Most of the members are professionals who couldn’t cook to save their lives. But they all love good food.
There is a $30 annual membership fee and it is $50 for a 2 ½ hour hands on cooking session. They guys will learn how to prepare about 4-5 dishes. After the session they will sit down to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
I was inspired by a similar men-only class run the Hollandse Club. I also feel that that cooking can help Indian men relieve stress, make friends, even network. Some of them miss their mothers’ cooking. I want these men to go home happy and relaxed, knowing that if they are left alone, they can whip up a meal for themselves. Each session will be a different experience for these men, as they will be able to choose what dishes they want to learn. The idea is to educate and expose them to different kinds of foods to share with their families.
There are rules of course. The men have to wear aprons, roll up their sleeves and wash their hands before touching any food!
